eradens X density meter: Ensuring bubble-free filling with innovative FillingProof® Technology
The vertical alignment of the U-tube minimizes the probability of air bubbles getting trapped inside the density cell. For the verification of the bubble-free filling, eralytics has developed FillingProof® (Patent: US 11,493,417 B2). In contrast to error-prone optical methods, the change in the density as a function of applied pressure is used to detect even the smallest bubbles providing reliable results also for non-transparent samples such as crude oil.

Frequently Asked Questions about eradens X
FillingProof® is the patented and fully automatic procedure on eradens X to check for air bubbles inside the oscillating U-tube during a density measurement. The test result is verified with an unambiguous pass/fail notification. Digital density standard test methods (ASTM D4052, ISO 12185) demand a procedure to ensure no air bubbles are present inside the oscillating U-tube during a measurement. On eradens X this is achieved by the FillingProof®: the density is observed as a function of applied pressure. If a bubble is trapped inside the oscillating U-tube it will be compressed by the applied pressure, thus the density spikes. In contrast, no significant change in density occurs if the oscillator is properly filled, and the measurement is verified. The FillingProof® works independently from the sample type, even non-transparent samples such as crude oil can be measured with high reliability. Have a glance at our eradens X Featur Video
The drying cartridge on eradens X prevents condensation inside the oscillator which would otherwise affect the precision and reliability of a measurement. The typical follow-up procedure after a measurement on eradens X includes rinsing the oscillating U-tube with a volatile solvent and purging it with air for drying. If the ambient humidity is high, the measuring temperature exceeds the dew point of the atmospheric conditions, and as a consequence moisture can accumulate inside the oscillator-tube. This is prevented by pre-drying the air by passing it through a drying cartridge before it enters the U-tube. Silica gel is used as the drying agent inside the cartridge which last for more than 2000 measurements for typical fuel applications. Yes, even highly corrosive liquids, e.g. concentrated acids and bases can be measured on eradens X or used for cleaning purposes without the risk of damage to the equipment. The wetted materials of eradens X are made from highly resistant Hastelloy® (oscillator), Teflon® and FEP (tubes) and FFKM rubber (sealings). This allows the use of even highly aggressive materials such as concentrated oxidizing acids (nitric acid) or chemicals which are known to corrode glass such as concentrated bases (sodium hydroxide) or hydrofluoric acid without the risk of damaging the equipment. In contrast to glass-made oscillators, no density recalibration is required on eradens X after measuring aggressive chemicals due to the high durability of Hastelloy®. The standard manual filling on eradens X is done by syringe. For automatic filling the sampling options erafill s and erafill p are available. For normal operation sample injection is achieved via syringe on eradens X. Two automatic filling options are available for eradens X. erafill p includes an external peristaltic pump for easy filling and rinsing. erafill s is a syringe operated single-position sample changer, allowing for automatic repeated measurements and measurements at different temperatures. Furthermore, erafill s can be equipped with up to 2 cleaning solvents for automatic rinsing and air drying of the oscillator after a measurement to minimize operator attendance time.
